Al-Najd Developmental Forum has completed the implementation of 400 home garden to the benefit of 400 poor families in Gaza Strip, through partnership with the Agricultural Relief, and financing from the Dutch representative office in Ramallah, West Bank.
The general director of the forum, Khaled Abu Sharkh said that the project , that took two months to be completed has served 400 families from the various five governorates of Gaza, noting that each family has got a home garden area of around 300 square meters, with all its basic needs of threes, agricultural material, irrigation systems, chicken, poultry feed, and generators.
He pointed that the project was very successful and beyond expectations as it increased the ability of the beneficiaries to benefit from their sales of crops, stressing that the project has provided more than 4000 days of work for about 200 workers and technicians.
Abu Sharkh also expressed hopes that donors would continue to support their relations to develop these projects and ensure the improvement of life conditions of the poor categories of families in rural, and remote areas.
He reviewed the most important positive results of such projects, mainly the exploitation of land and empty spaces between the houses, and increasing the harvest of healthy and organic agricultural products.
Abu Sharkh added that “ the project has contributed in beautifying the targeted areas, and improving the environment’s quality “ noting that more important was the rehabilitation of these families and training them to work in agriculture and depend on themselves.
For her part , the chairwoman of Al-Najd Forum Rifqqa Al-Hammlawi said that “ the project has targeted the most vulnerable and poor families, especially those women and widows living in border areas”.
She stressed the importance of following up these projects and develop them according to the potential of these citizens from poor families.
Al-Hammlawi also explained that “ all these families are depending now on themselves after they obtained the necessary technical training , pointing that, unlike a lot of other projects, it won the attention of all the beneficiaries.
