Shiekh Nabil Mohammad Saleh, head of the Bahraini delegation who participated in the humanitarian convoy of “ Miles of Smiles 11” returning home, that their visit to Gaza “was very successful on all levels, and has achieved its objectives in alleviating the suffering of the besieged Gaza Strip”.
Sheikh Nabil, in an exclusive statement, told Humanitarian Voice correspondent, in Cairo, that the delegation which arrived to Gaza in the 14th of April, and stayed until 19th April “ has met with Gaza Health Minister Dr. Bassem Naim and delivered the medical assistance to Al-Shifaa Hospital”.
He added that “the medical assistance included medical equipment and special equipment for conducting surgeries, in addition to the distribution of some relief material for 70 needy families and children of Palestinian martyrs in all governorates of the coastal enclave”.
The Bahraini delegation also met with Gaza Prime Minister Ismail Haneyya, who expressed his appreciation and welcome to the visiting delegation, and thanked them for the Bahraini assistance, calling for “the necessity of continuing these convoys to break the siege and alleviate the suffering of Gaza people,due to the heinous Israeli blockade that entered its sixth year”.
Sheikh Saleh pointed that the Bahraini delegation, while in Gaza,“ has developed and expanded the agricultural project of “Bahrain Kingdom Reserves” by increasing the cultivated area 12 dunums, that are cultivated with various kinds of vegetables, some fruits including grapes and plums in the liberated land of Hiteen”.
The Bahraini delegation , while in Gaza, has visited a number of charities, and extended some financial support, especially for the “Women Charity Al- Ra’edat”, “ Al- Rahma charity “ for children, and “ Al-Noor charity for the widows”.
Sheikh Saleh affirmed that the participation of Bahraini delegations, in “Miles of Smiles” convoys would continue until removing the oppressive blockade of our brethren in Gaza, and opening the border with Egypt without any prior conditions.”
It is worth mention that the Kingdom of Bahrain has continued to participate in the relief convoys of “Miles of Smiles” since the first humanitarian convoy was launched.
Sheikh Saleh also explained that “preparations are afoot for participating in the next convoy by the end of next May to deliver more medical , and food assistance to Gaza”
