GCC providing 20 thousand job opportunity in Gaza Strip

The Gulf Cooperation Councils program (GCC) has contributed in providing 20 thousand job opportunity , through its rebuilding projects to the benefit of thousands citizens living in the besieged Gaza Strip.

The GGC projects that started in July 2010 , and were financed through the Islamic Bank of Jeddah, cover a variety of development projects recruited a big number of people i.e project managers, coordinators, site engineers, helping crews, in addition to other workers.

The local coordinator of GCC program to rebuild Gaza, engineer Rifaat Diyab explained that the said program has financed a batch of projects and programs valued at $30 millions that were started on July 2010.

He also pointed out that another batch of projects and programs valued at $50 millions have already started in January 2011, while a third batch valued at $67.2 million were erected and completed.

Eng.Diyab added that this big number of work opportunities has greatly contributed in providing living source for thousands of unemployed families, workers , and newly graduated who cannot find a suitable jobs under high rates of unemployment that are prevailing in Gaza Strip due to Israeli blockade

Various sectors :

He stated that the projects being erected by the GCC program cover all different sectors in Gaza like in housing, education, agriculture, health, municipalities, public works, in addition to water, sewage, and industry.

He stressed that Gaza still needs more support to rebuild and develop all sectors being significantly affected during the last Israeli war on Gaza in 2009, let alone other inflicted areas due to the ongoing Israeli siege on the coastal enclave.

The GCC program coordinates with other Arab and regional institutions and association like The Red Qatari Crescent, Human Appeal International (UAE), and Qatar Charity, to implement these projects in Gaza.

The GCC program also implements some projects through international organizations like United Nations Development Program (UNDP), (UNRWA), (WHO), (UNESCO), Turkish Red Crescent, in addition to International Islamic Relief.

Meanwhile, local organizations are participating in implementing these projects that are financed by GCC program, like Al-Rahmah for Relief and Development charity, The Palestinian Council for Housing, The Palestinian Economic Council for Building and Development, and The Union of Palestinian Industries.
