Zayed Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation a UAE successful journey

The establishment of Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation came to crown the successful journey of the United Arab Emirates in all aspects.

Announcement of the establishment on 5 August 1992 came to translate to develop mechanisms of charities in this country, and raise them to world class levels, and to ensure Sheikh Zayed's willingness to help the needy people around the globe, using state of the art systems.

Since its establishment, the foundation has focused on diversification of its activities in association with national and international organizations, to promote the United Arab Emirates in the charity and humanitarian field around the globe.

Due to Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation local and international prestige in the world of Charity, the Foundation strived to establish its presence in the field of international charity activities through a network of international activists concerned with the poverty, ignorance, backwardness, displacement and asylum issues, along with the problems of the developing communities such as the natural disasters, resources shortage, illiteracy, diseases and deterioration of life standards below poverty level.

The Foundation targets the human being, regardless of color, gender or religion to assist them and enhance standard of life, following the path of its founder Late/ Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan whose assistance was extended to reach all people through out the world regardless of their gender, race or creed, the same vision adopted by the Foundation in implementing its charitable projects throughout the world.

Within this framework, the Organization established good relations with governmental and non-governmental organization and with some government, with the aim to facilitate the projects such as the hospitals, health centers, colleges, orphanages, reconstruction and settlement projects

Relief activities :
One of the charitable activities of Zayed Charity

Although the emergency relief activities do not constitute a major part of the Organization activities carried out within the annual program, where most of the Organization budget is directed towards the construction projects in disaster stricken countries; the Foundation made great contributions in this field. It promptly extended assistance to those stricken by natural and social disasters in many countries throughout the world. Many funds were directed towards the relief activities for the implementation of reconstruction projects such as those carried out in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo. The amounts spent in this field since the Organization establishment reached as far as US$ 15 million, which many throughout the world had benefited thereof.

Within the Arab World for instance the Foundation offered emergency relief aids to the Arab countries affected by natural disasters such as floods and earthquakes such as Sudan, Somalia, Kosovo, and Algeria in addition to relief aids to the Palestinian people.

In Africa the Foundation provided relief aids to many African countries stricken by natural catastrophe such as famine as the result of drought, desert creep at the African horn, such as Ethiopia, Eritrea, Somalia and other African countries such as Burundi, Niger and Mali.

In Asia the Organization offered relief aids to the countries victimized by natural disasters such as Iran (Bam city earthquake), Bangladesh (floods and hurricane victims) and Afghanistan. In addition to the relief the organization has promptly responded to the Tsunami victims in Asian countries such Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India, Maldives Islands and others on 26/12/2004, which caused unprecedented devastation leading to the displacement of thousands of people. The Organization has also extended its relief aids and assistance to cover certain countries in the West to the victims of the social disasters in Caucasian countries, Azerbaijan and Chechnya.

In 2007 urgent aids of US 500,000 were provided to China, Sudan, Kosovo and Bangladesh to face the consequences of the floods, tempests which hit those countries.
