The European Campaign to End the Siege on Gaza (ECESG), with its headquarter in Brussels expressed its appreciation to the results reached by the report of the UN Human Rights Commission, concerning the probe in the Israeli massacre against the Freedom Flotilla aid convoy that took place in international waters off Gaza shores last May.
The ECESG statement said that the report pointed to a series of Israeli violations of international law, including international humanitarian and human rights law that were committed by the Israeli forces during the interception of the flotilla and during the detention of passengers in Israel prior to deportation.
The statement added that these Israeli practices included murdering , torturing, insulting, humiliating , and physical assault against the foreign solidarity supporters who were on board of the flotilla, besides a flagrant violation to articles 6, 7,9,10, and 19 of the international charter of civil and political rights.
The ECESG campaign, which is one of the founders of the Freedom Flotilla coalition, added that the conclusion of the commission’s report about the Israeli offensive that killed nine Turkish solidarity activists, is considered as a victory, even partially to Freedom Flotilla martyrs and to the fair issue of ending Gaza siege.
It is worth to mention that the international fact-finding commission that was appointed by the Human Rights Council, had listened to the testimonies of one hundred of solidarity peaceful activists who were on board of the flotilla.
The mission visited the UK, Turkey, Switzerland, and Jordan to meet with those persons, while the Israeli side refused to cooperate with this international mission.
