The Committee of parliamentary Justice voted yesterday as “yes” on the amendment to article 59 of the Lebanese labor law to grant the Palestinian refugees work permits to work in the Lebanese territory and shall be exempt from taxes.
The Lebanese site "Oh Lebanon," said that the Committee agreed to the proposal presented by Lebanese MP Walid Jumblatt, that would award Palestinians their civil rights and work permits without paying any fees.
The Web site said that the Committee deleted the part of the proposal submitted by Jumblatt, saying that Palestinians working in Lebanon should be equal with their counterparts in Lebanon.
Its required from Palestinian refugees in Lebanon to work under the presence of a sponsor who will own the full power and control of their work .
Last month, Jumblatt called for an extraordinary session of parliament to approve the draft bill to grant the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon their civil rights and allow them ownership.
Jumblatt demanded a full lift to the siege imposed on the Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon saying that they already suffer from Life’s hardships there so why make them suffer more.
Hezbollah’s legislators and the Amal movement voted in favor of the bill, while the Phalange Party, the Lebanese Forces Party and the change and reform all voted against it.
