Egypt's Steel Wall along the borders with Gaza Strip

The steel wall built by Egypt under its borders with the Gaza Strip is entering its final stages and would soon close up all tunnels used for smuggling goods into the besieged Strip, sources working in the wall project said.

The sources told the PIC on Sunday that the final stage was the most dangerous one as it targets the area full of tunnels between Gaza and Egypt.
They said that the Egyptian authorities had doubled the number of tools used in digging, noting that 70% of the wall has been completed.

The sources said that the Egyptian authorities target closing more than 1,000 tunnels used in supplying Gaza with basic materials.

Palestinian human rights groups estimate that 142 people had died in the tunnels over the past couple of years.
