Charity Caravans distributing 11000 food parcels in Jordan

The Hashemite Charity Caravans on Saturday headed to the Kingdom's central governorates carrying 11,000 food parcels to be distributed to underprivileged families ahead of the holy month of Ramadan.
Each food parcel, to be delivered to families in Amman, Balqa, Zarqa, Madaba and the Central Badia contains rice, sugar, beans, lentils, chickpeas, olive oil and canned foods to cover the needs of a family for six months, according to Royal Court Adviser Yousef Issawi.
He added that the aid is part of the 30,000 food parcels allocated for citizens in the Kingdom's northern, southern and central regions, including 1,500 to be delivered to the families of Jordan Armed Forces personnel who died on duty. A total of 100 parcels will be allocated for injured Armed Forces servicemen, Issawi noted, highlighting that the annual campaign is upon King Abdullah's directives to alleviate the economic hardships citizens face.
Issawi, who also serves as president of the committee entrusted with following up on the implementation of Royal initiatives, indicated that the number of food parcels increased this year by 30 per cent compared to previous years to expand the number of beneficiaries in light of the rising prices of basic commodities.
He pointed out that the Royal Court, along with other officials, will be in charge of the distribution process.
The charity caravans were first launched during Ramadan 2005 as part of ongoing Royal initiatives which target families in need.
