Israeli rejection to stop settlements, is it a mean or a target ? |

Israeli rejection to stop settlements |
Israel persevered to revoke every agreement that is related to freezing any settlement activity. This is a methodology that Israel follows by Benjamin Netanyahu's extremist government.
Netanyahu's government worked on increasing the number of settlements in Palestinian territories. The Israeli government claimed halting settlement activities, whereas it is constructing more settlements to satisfy its people.
Netanyahu stated in a press release that freezing the settlements construction in the West Bank will hinder the Jewish communities from expanding.
The Rejection to stop establishing settlements is not Netanyahu's opinion only, but the opinion of the Israeli authority with its different leaderships.

 |
Refusal and Bias |
Netanyahu declared dismantling 26 random settlements to convince the world that he wants peace and to let the Palestinian Authority return to negotiations. The settlers didn't response to Netanyahu's step, so they organized many demonstrations against the Palestinians, and they set fire to many of Palestinian agricultural lands from Jenin in the north to Hebron during the south few weeks ago.
Netanyahu rejected the American demands to stop all the settlement activities in the West Bank, and he pledged not to put restrictions on establishing settlements in Jerusalem to hinder establishing a Palestinian state.
Dr. Fareed Abu Dheer, media professor at Al-Najah University in Nablis, and political analyst, stated that the Israeli refusal to stop establishing settlements is due to the fact that settlements existence is considered very important by the Israelis to Israeli protection.
Dr. Abu Dheer stated in a press release with "Humanity voice" that the settlements are established according to religious and demographic dimensions that serve the political dimension.

The Settlement and its Beginning |
Israel confiscated thousands of Palestinian agricultural lands to build what is called settlements. The settlements were established to embitter the Palestinians' life.
The Zionists' thought depends on establishing settlements, this thought is found since 1881 in some Palestinian studies. What should be taken into consideration is that the Zionists speed up to establish more settlements in different parts in Palestine especially in the West Bank and Jerusalem.
The total area of settlements in the West Bank after 1948 was 5.5 million dunums and it increased after 1967.
There are 155 settlements in the West Bank of 180,000 settlers who are increasing continuously.
In Ishkol and Golda Ma'er government, 11 settlements were established that form about 8% of the total settlements today that exist in Jordan Valley and Hebron. During Rabin government 1977, nine settlements were established in Jordan Valley and Jerusalem. In Beghen government (1977-1981), 35 settlements were established in Nablus, Ramallah, Hebron. Between (1986-1988), 43 settlements were established in Ramallah, Nablus and Hebron.

Settlement in Gaza |
| A settelment in Gaza that Israel claims to remove |
The total area of Gaza Strip governorates after 1948 were 365,000 dunums, and the Israeli occupation authorities were able to confiscate 60,000 dunums in 1967. The number of settlements around Gaza became 19 in which 6,000 settlers live.

 |
Settlement in Jerusalem |
The area of Jerusalem was 6.5 km squares before 1967, and after this it reached 70.5 km squares. By this way the Israeli authorities were able to create a new geographic situation in eastern Jerusalem by which it can separate Jerusalem from other Palestinian cities.
The Israeli government worked on establishing more settlements since the beginning of 1992 ignoring all the agreements with the Palestinians such as Oslo; that stated freezing any settlement activity that can change the Palestinian landscapes.
|
 |
Continual Reduplication |
The report stated that Israel established more than 1518 new buildings in settlements distributed in the West Bank last year, in addition to 860 settlements in 2007.
Palestinian experts in Settlement Affairs stated that Israel is working on transforming the West Bank into cantons in which people can move through bridges and tunnels under the Israeli leadership.
|
 |
The Reaction |
The Palestinians are trying to resist what Israel is doing against them individually, still they need international and Arabs' support.
Officially, the Palestinian Authority refused to negotiate with Israel until it stops establishing more settlements and recognize the existence of Palestinian state.
Concerning what is stated above, Israel is still establishing more settlements. This what will create more problems on the ground, if the Palestinian Authority agrees on negotiating with Israel under such situation.
